Scott Boone ’81 is the new Assistant Linebacker Coach at the University of Arizona – Tucson. Click here for the coach bio. Scott joins Arizona from serving three seasons as defensive coordinator at the University of Nevada.
Scott was an assistant coach at Wabash from 1983 to 1996. He is a member of the Wabash College Athletic Hall of Fame. After Wabash, Scott earned a Master’s of Science in Higher Education Administration from Purdue University.
Dr. John L. Mikesell ’64 PhD received a Sagamore of the Wabash award during a meeting of the State Budget Committee (Indiana) on December 15. The Sagamore of the Wabash is an honorary award presented by the Governor of Indiana to residents of Indiana who have provided a distinguished service to the state or to the governor. Dr. Mikesell, Chancellor’s Professor Emeritus at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs – Indiana University Bloomington, was recognized for his many accomplishments in the field of public finance and, in particular, his nearly 40 years of service as a member of the State Budget Committee’s Revenue Forecast Technical Committee. The Committee is responsible for forecasting state tax revenues available for appropriation in the state biennial budget. The award was presented on behalf of Governor Mike Pence by State Rep. Tim Brown, who is the current chairman of the State Budget Committee.
After Wabash, Dr. Mikesell earned an M.A. and a PhD in Economics at the University of Illinois. He is an expert in governmental finance, specializing in sales and property tax policy and administration and public budgeting systems.

Shawn Tabor ’96 will be honored by the New Castle High School [Indiana] boys’ basketball program at a banquet on December 9. Shawn is a member of the New Castle Silver Anniversary Squad for the 1991-92 team, one of four seniors in 1992 who will be recognized for their contributions to the team. At Wabash, Shawn was a three-year starter for the Little Giants, with 1,111 career points, and connected on 101 three-point baskets. After graduation he played briefly in Europe. In May 2016, Shawn was inducted into the Montgomery County Basketball Hall of Fame.
Richard J Stephenson ’62 has been named one of the 2017 Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. Award recipients who will be inducted in March 2017. Each year, the Horatio Alger Association honors a group of select and highly accomplished business and civic leaders from modest backgrounds who have risen to great success in their fields.
