Dubois County Commissioners have announced that Greg Schnarr will take over as the county attorney at the beginning of January. Greg previously served in an elected seat on the Jasper Common Council, and was a member of the City of Jasper Utility Service Board’s wastewater subcommittee. In January, he will also take over as the attorney for the Dubois County Contractual Library Board and Jasper Public Library Board when their current attorney retires.
Following his 2000 graduation from Wabash, Greg received his J.D. degree from the IU School of Law, and has worked as an attorney at Rahman Law Office in Ferdinand for 14 years.
Bob Grand ’78 will be presented with the 2018 Hoosier of the Year award by the Indiana Society of Chicago at their annual gala on Saturday, December 1, 2018. Bob is firm managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg LLP and is resident in the firm’s Indianapolis office. Formerly managing partner of the Indianapolis office, he is a member of the Government Services and Finance Department.
The Best Lawyers in America has recognized Bob every year since 2005. In the 2016 edition of Best Lawyers in America, he was listed as a “Lawyer of the Year” for his work in government relations practice and municipal law. Bob has also been recognized on the Indiana Super Lawyers list.

Condé Nast has named John Deschner managing director of Condé’s new CNX group, the area that will now oversee all advertising and branding work for outside clients. John spent nearly all of his career working in advertising, most recently as chief innovation officer and managing director at TBWA/Chiat/Day LA, where he oversaw the growth of their content and digital capabilities, and worked with clients ranging from QuickBooks and Airbnb to the Grammys.
“John is an innovative leader in the industry and has extensive experience building and expanding content and digital businesses at some of the most successful agencies in the industry,” said Pamela Drucker Mann, chief revenue and marketing officer of Condé Nast, to whom he will report. “Pairing John’s expertise with the new global network of editorial talent and influence available through CNX, immediately puts Condé Nast at the forefront of the creative agency business.”
John Gastineau ’73, has published his second novel, Fourth Person No More, a police procedural and courtroom drama set in rural Indiana. John is also the author of The Judge’s Brief, published in 2017.
