Let me start by saying I know I’m an old guy and my jaw is still clinched from the game’s outcome…so bear with me…
Yesterday, BEFORE the kickoff, two recent graduates (Class of 2008), one from a fraternity and one an independent, demonstrated ungentlemanly and irresponsible behavior. One was taken to the hospital. Neither one saw a second of football. I probably don’t need to tell you any more…you have the picture.
I am all for having a good time, but the Bell game is about getting in the stadium and cheering your heart out for the Little Giants…
On another level it’s sad – I guess they missed the part about “Think critically” and “Act responsibly”.

My son alerted me to your blog sight. We were there in the lot with the one young alum. The tailgating lot behind the stadium was a zoo and another story of people out of control. I’ll save that story for another day. My wife and got to our van about 11:00. The one kid was essentially passed out at 11:00 and it only got worse…I know several of these kids and I was disappointed with their behavior… At some point he was taken to the hospital. The story from the kids is that he was taking some drugs for a phsychological condition that reacted badly with the beer. Who knows? But that group had numerous kids that were very drunk. My wife and I were disappointed. My friends had brought their best friends with them to show off the college. This was a terrible example of Wabash…
I share your feelings, Tom.
The sad outcome on the pitch, losing the game and the bell for the second year in a row, is nothing compared to the sad and embarrassing spectacle of public drunkenness that my wife and I witnessed as we spent several hours trying to raise funds for the soccer trip to Argentina tending our table.
My wife was saddened, and I deeply embarrassed, as some of our recent alumni, as well as some not so young, and current students stumbled by our tent completely intoxicated.
The last image my wife and I had in our eyes before we packed up shop and entered the stadium to cheer the football Little Giants was of a completely drunk Sphinx Wally who could hardly stand up as he tried to put his right foot in from of his left.
