Julio Enríquez-Ornelas ’08, an associate professor of Spanish at Millikin University, will be returning to Wabash to as a visiting associate progressor of Spanish.
Enríquez-Ornelas recently shared the news on Twitter: “15 years ago, I stepped foot on Wabash College as an undocumented first gen student de Salinas, CA. I can finally share that next fall, I’ll be returning as a Visiting Associate Professor of Spanish. The thought of teaching where I was first taught is a dream come true.
“Este Little Giant with a Big Blue heart is coming back home,” the professor tweeted. “I am so happy to return to the place that gave me everything back when I had nothing but puras ganas to earn a degree.”
In addition to teaching, Enríquez-Ornelas is also a literary critic, editor, and writer.
While at Wabash, he was a double-major in English and Spanish and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. He earned a master’s in Hispanic Studies and a PhD in Latin American Literature and Culture from the University of California Riverside.
