Brient Hicks

Brient Hicks ’18 has recently joined Barnes & Thornburg as a new attorney in the firm’s Indianapolis office.

Hicks focuses his practice on counseling hospitals and other healthcare providers, particularly counseling on certificates of needs, direct billing, anti-markup, and the Anti-Kickback Statute compliance, according to a news release. He also drafts fair market value analyses to defend and justify physician salaries under the Stark and Anti-Kickback laws and conducts regulatory reviews for healthcare facilities.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg as an associate, Hicks was a law clerk for the firm, where he conducted a multi-state survey of local Medicaid rules relating to licensing issues such as change of ownership, change of director or manager and Medicaid enrollment applications. 

Hicks earned a Bachelor’s Degree in economics and German from Wabash College and a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2021. While at Wabash, he was an independent and member of the football team and German Club.
