Tom Wilson ’77, Professor at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis, is the director of I.U.’s Chinese Law Summer Program at Renmin University of China Law School. Tom recently shared this story and photo from his chance encounter with another Wabash alumnus:
“Each summer I take a group of law students to Renmin University of China Law School, which is located in Beijing. The 2012 CLSP had forty-six students from nine law schools. In addition to classes five days a week, the program includes law-related field trips and cultural field trips. The law firm field trip was to the Zhong Lun Law Firm, which has over 700 legal professionals in China’s major cities—Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Hong Kong, and Chengdu, as well as in Tokyo and London.
I knew two partners in the firm would address my students, but I did not know who. As our bus neared the firm’s offices, I was handed a sheet of paper that gave some background information about the firm. I was also given the biographies of the partners we would meet, one of whom is named John Jiang. You can imagine my surprise—and pleasure—when I discovered that Mr. Jiang is a Wabash grad [Class of 1991]!!! We had a nice time chatting about our alma mater. What a small world!”

Thanks for sharing, Tom!
