The weather and lighting were really horrible when I stopped to take this shot. I couldn’t get close because of the mud and didn’t want to wait because there was another 6 inches of snow headed this way.
Those seats glistening in the photo? They are from American Seating. The same folks who put seats in the finest ballparks in America. Jay Fisher ’66 did a lot of work to bring Wabash and American Seating together for this venture – thanks Jay!
We’ll be playing baseball here in less than a month, much less. Mark your calendars now – March 19, 2011. Double header with Wilmington. I can’t wait!

Did you say Baseball??? At our Colorado Springs house we orbit around that word: BASEBALL. The kids had tryouts a few weeks ago. The Academy Little League evaluated 120 Rookie Blue Division kids and 48 (including #3 son Matthew) were selected for the Rookie Red Division, which is more competitive than developmental Blue. #4 son Joshua was in the Midget (7- & 8-year-olds) Division last year, and he tried out for Rookie Blue (9- & 10-year-olds) and made it. He has some natural hitting talent, but his strength is a grasp of the big picture. So he is better off with kids who share that perspective. At Midget level, the younger kids like to dig holes in the infield while they are waiting around for the pitcher to throw a strike. So we are all proud as Matt and Josh begin. BUT, today I left the house at 1610, dropped Joshua at Costillo Park at 1630, continued to Keller Park with Matthew at 1645, back to Costillo and let the twins play on the swings and slides until Johua finished at 1800. Then we shot back to pick up Matthew, and both changed to Cub uniforms in the car for the 1830 meetings of Bear Den 3 and Weeblo Dragon Patrol. A kow pass through McDonalds by 2000 hours. Are we having fun yet?
