So, I had the camera and had just departed Hollett Stadium on my way over to Center Hall. Following that, I couldn’t resist a peek at the Senior Bench. New scheme? Colors? Messages?
This is what I found. Very nice paint job but not a single letter of text…not one.
OK, sports fans…in true liberal arts fashion, what is the bench “saying”?

Tom,
Noticing the date on the photo, I’m sure the artwork is a political statement! Something along the lines of: “The far left and far right have left us black and blue with negative ads, name calling, finger pointing, innuendo and the occasional outright lie. Fortunately there is a place of calm still remaining in the middle. Indeed, there is no bench without the center!” … Of course, I’m writing this note on November 4th so the first negative ads for the next election cycle should be coming out any day now!
Post-electionally yours,
Charlie Crowley ’70
Charlie,
Great thought! Regardless of your politics, you gotta’ love ithe election’s impact on the stock market!

Hi Tom,
Noticed the photo and question on your blog this morning, as well as Charlie Crowley’s theory. Not sure if someone has already pointed this out, but Black, White, and Blue are the colors of Theta Delta Chi. Not saying I know for certain, but if I were a betting man I’d put my money on the Theta Delt freshman being the mystery artists.
Hope all is well and hope to see you next weekend for the bell game.

Grunge,
I believe I hear the chant in the background: “Go 401k, go 401k, go 401k …”
