Trudy Johnson correctly identified the "socks owner" as Jon Pactor (right), Class of 1971. She also noted that Jon’s unique approach to wearing the socks allowed the logo to be low enough to be read beneath the cuff of any dress slacks. Now that’s thinking!
Congrats Trudy! She may have had a little bit of an unfair advantage – Trudy is married to Brad Johnson ’71, one of Jon’s fraternity brothers.

Once again, I am reminded of the Valpo game in fall of 1967. Football coach Max Urick had a red “W” painted on the outside of all our socks for that game. I have to assume this was done with an oil-based paint and too soon before the game for it to dry completely. The burning started as soon as the sweat soaked the sock. We got some relief by rolling the sock down to shoe top. But by then, we all had a W painfully burned into the side of our calves. Sad but true story.
