It’s interesting how some things change and others…well…remain traditional. I asked a student leader recently if a fellow Sphinx Club member was attending a campus function. Without hesitation, he pulled out his portable electronic multimedia device-mini computer-entertainment center (cell phone) and sent a text message. In a matter of seconds the answer came back.
Contrast that to the more traditional sandwich board approach still used by the Sphinx Club pledges to increase attendance at Thursday’s Chapel Talks.
I won’t make a comparison or voice an opinion – each has its place here at Wabash and we’d be a lesser place if we didn’t have both. I think the technical term is "state-of-the-art traditional".
The two guys in the close-up obviously do more than the bare minimum – well done!

Matt & Grunge Report-readers,
TECHNOLOGY; Is it an ADVANTAGE or or DISADVANTAGE to communication?
Reflecting on this report, I apply my years of teaching as I recall many of my students who would pay more attention to thier PDA than the lessons on their schedule.
Granted any Electronic devices were not allowed on campus, many students and teachers did manage to claim a specific need to carry these devices. %I credited them to be PACIFIERS for their comfort.
Is technology morphing us into robots?
Myself being a Toastmaster, I encourage face-to-face communication over any Technological gadget.
