Partner Gregory (Greg) Castanias ’87 has been elected to the American Law Institute (ALI), one of the leading independent organizations in the United States dedicated to producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law.

Castanias is in the Issues & Appeals Practice and is head of the Firm’s Federal Circuit team. Resident in the Washington Office, he has over 30 years’ experience as a leading appellate and intellectual property litigator. His experience includes five Supreme Court arguments, more than 100 Federal Circuit arguments, and countless others in federal and state courts from Alaska to Connecticut. He is the lead author of the just-published Federal Appellate Practice and Procedure (West Publishing; 3d edition 2023) and is an adjunct professor of law at Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he teaches Appellate Practice and Procedure and Federal Circuit Advocacy. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

While at Wabash, Castanias majored in English and philosophy. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.
