Daniel W. Crofts ’63 is a professor of history at the College of New Jersey.  His specialty is in American history in the years immediately prior to the Civil War.  His new book, Lincoln & the Politics of Slavery, will be published this spring, and available in the Wabash bookstore in April.

Dan was on campus in 2013 for the Civil War Symposium as keynote speaker with “Lincoln’s Plea for Peace:  The Would-Be 13th Amendment and the Coming of the Civil War.”

After Wabash, Dan earned his PhD at Yale University. He has taught at TCNJ since 1975.  His research focuses on the Old South, and the North-South Sectional Conflict that led to Civil War.
