Luke Messer ’91 will receive an honorary doctor of laws degree at Ball State University, where he will be the commencement speaker in May.  Luke is the U.S. Rep. (R-Ind.) in the U.S. Congess.

After Wabash, Luke earned his JD from Vanderbilt University Law School, and has been involved in Indiana politics, the Indiana Republican Party, and education reform.  In 2012, he was elected to Congress, representing Indiana’s 6th District, which includes Muncie and Ball State. He was elected president of the congressional freshman class and serves on the House committees on budget, foreign affairs, and education and the workforce.
