David R. Stone ’91 has published a new article, “Russia,
Gay Rights, and the Sochi Olympics” in Origins: Current Events in Historical Perspective, February 2014 (volume 7, issue 6, Ohio State University Department of History), which explores the roots of Russia’s new law on homosexual propaganda and the increasing intolerance of Russian society. David has been Professor of History at Kansas State University since 1999. After graduating from Wabash, he received his Ph.D. in Russian history from Yale University in 1997. He is the director of the Institute for Military History and 20th Century Studies and the Pickett Professor of Military History at Kansas State University, and an award-winning author. He specializes in Russia and the Soviet Union, South Asia and military history, and teaches courses in Russian, European, and South Asian history.
