Dr. David J. Shafer PhD ’87 and his wife, Jennifer, are partners in Shafer Consulting in Sarasota, Florida, an environmental consulting firm specializing in communication of science and science-policy issues through analysis, outreach and creative design.  They list many local area environmental organizations as clients.  The Sarasota Herald Tribune featured them as the co-executive directors of the Science and Environment Council of Southwest Florida, a group of organizations who promote and advance science and environmental issues.

After Wabash, David earned his PhD in Zoology (Population Ecology) from the University of Hawaii, where he met Jennifer, a PhD from University of Hawaii who has taught biology and biostatistics in marine science programs.  When they moved from Hawaii to Florida a few years ago, it was a natural transfer of interests in environment, conservation, and preservation to their new home state.

Congratulations, David!
