John Dykstra ’13 was recently named as a reporter for the Crawfordsville Journal Review. It is a new position for John, but he is very familiar with the JR – as a place that introduced him to journalism in a small town such as Crawfordsville when he was a summer intern in 2012 (which was funded by a Lilly Business Internship Grant through Wabash College). John had worked as a reporter for The Bachelor as a freshman, moving up to Editor-in-Chief by his senior year. Since graduation last May, John has been a page designer and weekly sports columnist at the JR.
Introducing himself in print as a new reporter last week, John shared in his column, “My experiences with The Bachelor and The Journal Review have reinforced my passion for writing. This community has had a significant impact on my development as a writer, and that will continue to be the case. I am devoted to writing the stories of Montgomery County and surrounding areas, and welcome all lines of communication. If you have a news tip, please feel free to contact me via email at jdykstra@jrpress.com or by phone at 362-1200, ext. 124.
If you see me walking around town or at a sports event, feel free to introduce yourself. I value personal connections and would be happy to get to know all of you. I will continue to write my weekly sports column, for baseball is another passion of mine and it has been a busy offseason in the sport. I also plan on picking up a weekly column in the “Viewpoints” section that may cover a few coming of age and family-related stories. Now, let us begin.”

Congratulations, John!
