Trooper Clayton James Gum ‘12 graduated from the 72nd Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in December.  Starting last Saturday, he reported to the Lafayette state police post and has been patrolling Montgomery and Fountain Counties with field training officers.  After he completes the year-long probation on the road, he may remain in these counties or he may be assigned to another Indiana district.

C.J. came to Wabash from North Judson, IN.  He was an Economics major who participated in the 2009 Wabash Summer Business Immersion program and was a member of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity.  As a linebacker and defensive captain for Little Giants football, he earned these honors in his senior year: AFCA­ All-American, D3football.com ­1st team A­ll-American, NCAC Defensive Player of the Year, NCAC 1st team All Conference.  C.J. is noted as the lone NCAC football player named to the 2011 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team.
