All Roads in Poland Lead Through . . . Wabash?

The event in June:  A beautiful traditional wedding in southern Poland.

Who would guess that three of the guests and the groom all had ties to Wabash College in Indiana, USA?  Amidst the celebration, Michael, Bastian, Almut, and Pawel recalled memories of their days on campus.

Michael Opieczonek ’09, who is completing an international leadership development program in England with Valspar Paint, sent us the story and photo. His cousin, Bastian Wonschik ’00, attended the wedding, too.  Bastian is business development director for Schott AG, a specialty glass manufacturer in Germany.  The third guest was Ms. Almut Vogel, who worked at Wabash as a German language intern in 2008-2009; Almut is now finishing her teaching diploma to teach foreign languages in Germany.  And, the last Wabash connection in the mix was the groom, Pawel Opieczonek.  Several years ago, Pawel traveled from Poland to Wabash to attend the summer Opportunities to Learn About Business (OLAB) program for high school students!
