An alumnus, unnamed, stopped by a few days ago and filled me in on the Monon Bell "Heist" of 1972.  The "heist" was completely unusual – some Wabash men took it from some other Wabash men.  That’s right, an inside job!

In the dead of night way back in 1972, the Bell was temporarily housed in the Kappa Sig house.  After the Kappa Sigs were all sound asleep, the culprits simply walked into the fraternity house and carried the bell right out the door.

The sound of the Bell ringing woke the story-telling alumnus as the "thieves" wrestled with the bell as they carried it back to their room.

We won’t disclose who the "thieves were" – there may still be pending legal action – but their initials are "DS" and "HH" and you can see their photo in the 1973 year book.

Enough said.
