Paul Hernandez, along with South Bend native Nanci Flores have co-founded a non-profit called One More Citizen that provides free citizenship education classes for individuals seeking Naturalization in the United States.

Nanci has been an experienced citizenship programming director for more than 16 years, having founded and directed a successful citizenship class program resulting in a 100% passing rate of the USCIS Naturalization interview and exam for over 1100 US citizens in the region, from over 87 countries.

Paul has worked with her for the past 6 years as a volunteer tutor and now the lead class instructor. One More Citizen holds free evening Spanish and English instructed classes at St. Casimir’s Catholic school in South Bend, Indiana.

Paul was previously a high school English teacher for 38 years. He served as department chair for 28 years, was his school corporation’s Teacher of the Year, and the State of Indiana Academic Coach of the Year in 2011. He served as advisor on his school’s Spell Bowl team, yearbook, newspaper, and literary magazine. His Spell Bowl teams won 18 state championships, and his literary magazine ranked “Highest Award” 8 times as best in state.

While at Wabash, Paul majored in English, was a member of Delta Tau Delta and played baseball.
