Brian Samuels has been selected as the next Chair of the UAB Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
Samuels writes, “I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Grant Comer (’97) who is now an ophthalmologist and retina specialist at the University of Michigan. He introduced me to the idea of becoming an ophthalmologist when I returned to the last two years of clinical rotations in medical school after completing my PhD. He had gone on to be an ophthalmology resident at IU, and he was an excellent resource and mentor. On his recommendation, I visited UAB because he felt they had an outstanding residency program. That recommendation and his guidance set me on this path, and I am very grateful. I cannot help but reflect on the impact Wabash College, and those that I met during my time there, have had on my life. The decision to attend Wabash College continues to be one of the single most impactful that I have ever made.”
