Chad Peterman '09

The president of HVAC and plumbing company Peterman Brothers, a business often recognizable for its branded service vans, was named the Midwest Entrepreneur of the Year.

Chad Peterman will now be considered for Ernst & Young LLP’s National Entrepreneur of the Year. This accolade will be announced in November at the Strategic Growth Forum in Palm Springs, California.

An independent panel of previous award winners, CEOs and other leaders chose Peterman and evaluated him and other candidates for characteristics like entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth and impact. The award celebrates ambitious business leaders who are seek to build a better world.

“This award is a testament to the foundation my father built at Peterman and the drive he instilled in my brother and me to always keep reaching for the next level,” Peterman said in a news release. “I’ve dedicated my life to serving this company, my community and the skilled trades. To be named Entrepreneur of the Year is just an incredible honor.”

The Indianapolis Business Journal ranked the HVAC company as one of the fastest-growing companies in Indianapolis. In the latest iteration, it was ranked 13th. Peterman Brothers is the fifth-largest Indianapolis-based mechanical contractor, according to IBJ. While at Wabash, Peterman majored in political science and government and was an Independent.
