This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at StilL 630, the most award-winning distillery in Missouri. My time as an intern there was amazing, providing me with invaluable insights into the intricacies of distilling and the world of running a small business. At StilL 630, my days were filled with hands-on tasks that gave me a deep dive into the production process. From bottling spirits to labeling bottles, each step of the production chain revealed the meticulous attention to detail that goes into crafting a world-class spirit. It was fascinating to witness the precision and care required to ensure that every bottle meets the high standards of the distillery.

One of the most enlightening aspects of my internship was observing the day-to-day operations of a small business. StilL 630’s success isn’t just about producing award-winning spirits; it’s also about managing relationships with customers and business partners. I had the chance to interact with clients, helping to fulfill orders and address inquiries. This experience taught me a
lot about the importance of customer service and communication in maintaining a successful business. I learned firsthand about the challenges and rewards of operating a small business. I saw how the team at StilL 630 juggles various roles, from production and quality control to marketing and sales. It was interesting to see their dedication and adaptability, qualities that are
essential for any entrepreneur.

Reflecting on my time at StilL 630, I’ve realized how much I’ve grown. I’ve developed a greater appreciation for the craftsmanship behind each bottle of whiskey and a deeper understanding of the business acumen required to run a successful operation. This experience has expanded my professional skills and taught me more about myself. I discovered a newfound passion for the complexities of small business management and a greater respect for the hard work that goes into every aspect of production.

For anyone considering an internship in the distilling industry or with a small business, I highly recommend StilL 630. The hands-on experience and the lessons learned are invaluable, and the opportunity to be a part of a top-tier distillery like StilL 630 is a chance to gain skills that will benefit you in any career path. Most important, however, is how great working and learning with
the owner, Dave, is. His outlook on business and life is a testament to what it means to be a Wabash man, and his indomitable spirit and ability to move forward after setbacks are inspiring.

Thank you to the Wabash community and our generous donors for making this experience possible. Your support allowed me the opportunity to explore my interests and gain skills that I will carry forward in my professional journey.
