This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Obvious Shirts in Chicago, IL. Obvious Shirts is an apparel company started by Wabash alum Joe Johnson ‘11. This summer, my role was mostly in logistics and fulfillment, but I was able to do things such as helping with the retail store and making shirts.

From day one, the team at Obvious Shirts welcomed me with open arms. The work environment at Obvious Shirts was the best environment one could ask for, a place that mixes efficiency and fun. The creative environment at Obvious Shirts causes employees to get excited about ideas, causing us to be eager to get a project started and finished. This type of work environment is something that I will continue to seek as it impacted me in a positive way as an employee.

One area where I was able to flourish was when it came to bulk orders that we would send out to other stores. Over the summer I had to receive, quality check, and prepare orders to be sent
out to stores such as Wrigleyville Sports, Clark Street Sports, and multiple Dicks Sporting Goods around the Chicagoland area. This work consisted of us receiving an order of our shirts
from a printer, checking each shirt for any stains or damage, then boxing and shipping the shirts and any other items in the order to the correct store.

Another part of the job I enjoyed doing was printing the shirts. The most popular shirts sold at Obvious Shirts are usually made by printers, but some shirts that are not as popular are made in-house by the employees. The precise measurements that came along with making the shirts caused my skills in attention to detail to improve due to the amount of precision and detail that goes into every shirt.

I would like to thank Joe and the rest of the Obvious Shirts team for a great experience this summer and for the support they gave me throughout the summer. I would also like to thank the alumni who donated to the Small Business Fund to make this experience possible.
