Over the summer, I had the privilege of participating in both a Physical Therapy Clinic internship and a Football Coaching internship. At my old high school Erasmus Hall Educational Campus and Precision Card Medical. These two experiences provided me with unique insights into the fields of healthcare and sports, allowing me to learn and grow in meaningful ways.

Under the guidance of the skilled professionals at the Physical Therapy Clinic, I spent eight weeks from May to the end of June working closely with patients on their rehabilitation journeys. During my time there the physical therapist and physical therapist aides, imparted invaluable knowledge about injury assessment, treatment techniques, and patient care. I witnessed the transformative power of physical therapy in restoring mobility and enhancing the quality of life for individuals recovering from various injuries and surgeries. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of human anatomy and
physiology and reinforced the importance of empathy and effective communication in healthcare settings.

Simultaneously, I had the opportunity to intern with my old high school football team during the same period. Guided by Coach Landberg and his staff, I delved into the intricate world of coaching strategies, player development, and team dynamics as an offensive line coach. Observing the meticulous planning that goes into preparing for practices and games was enlightening. I actively participated in drills, assisting in skill-building sessions, and contributing to regular season preparations. This internship exposed me to the importance of leadership, motivation, and teamwork in sports, fostering my appreciation for the
integral role coaches play in athletes’ growth both on and off the field.

The Physical Therapy Clinic and Football Coaching internships were both transformative experiences, albeit in separate ways. These opportunities allowed me to gain practical insights into diverse career paths while honing essential skills. I’m immensely grateful to Stan, Coach Landberg, and their respective teams for investing their time and expertise in my development. Lastly, I want to thank the WLAIP program for helping me fund this internship. These internships have solidified my passion for helping others through healthcare and sports, and I look forward to applying the lessons I’ve learned to my future endeavors.
