My Summer Internship Adventures: Behind the Scenes in Film Production and Visual
Storytelling

This summer, I embarked on two transformative internship journeys that allowed me to dive headfirst into the world of film production and visual storytelling. As a Wabash College student, I had the incredible opportunity to explore my passions, learn new skills, and contribute to meaningful projects. Join me as I share the highlights of my experiences and the invaluable lessons I’ve gained along the way.

Lights, Camera, Action on the Film Set
Under the guidance of Professor Mohl, I spent four exhilarating weeks in a film production internship that brought me closer to the art of cinema than ever before. From constructing intricate props to optimizing studio space for filming, every day was a new adventure. My meticulous attention to detail was put to the test as I ensured the accuracy and quality of props and sets, embodying the essence of an aspiring filmmaker.

One of my key takeaways was mastering the art of lighting film sets and models to create the perfect visual atmosphere. My passion for art and film found synergy as I utilized metal and wood to craft economical yet striking props. With a foundation in artistic principles and a major Art this experience resonated deeply with my goals, solidifying my commitment to the world of
visual storytelling.

Capturing Pathways to a Bright Future
Transitioning from film production to visual storytelling, I joined forces with the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies for a dynamic two-week internship. Immersed in the Pathway to Your Future Program, I harnessed the power of photography and videography to capture the program’s essence and impact.

From documenting workshops to candidly capturing networking events, I aimed to convey the program’s diversity, engagement, and community impact through high-quality visuals. Crafting engaging 2-minute videos, complete with interviews and testimonials, was a gratifying challenge that spotlighted the program’s goals and benefits.

As a proud collaborator, I managed project timelines, negotiated compensation rates, and ensured the seamless transfer of rights for the final photographs and videos. With a heart full of gratitude, I extend my thanks to the donors, supervisors, and professors who made these internships possible.

Conclusion: A Journey of Growth and Gratitude
Reflecting on my whirlwind summer, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities that Wabash College has provided. These internships have not only enriched my skill set but also deepened my understanding of myself and my passions.

If you’re considering a Wabash-funded internship, I encourage you to take the leap. Embrace the challenges, relish the triumphs, and let each experience shape your path. As I look back on this
summer, I’m excited to see how my newfound knowledge and skills will shape my future as an
