This summer I have the opportunity to research with Dr. Burton and the biology department. Over the 6 weeks that I was there I was able to form a close relationship with Dr. Burton. I also learned how to do different protocols under Dr. Burton’s supervision. In the lab I learned about how to take care of the animal that we were working with, additionally, I learned how different drugs affect the regeneration of the animal. This research fits in with what I would like to do when I graduate from Wabash, this also aligns with my biology major and chemistry minor. Since these drugs affect the animals both in a chemical and biological sense. One thing that I like about this internship was that I was able to work with a fellow Wabash student, so we were able to bounce ideas off of each other and ask each other questions to make sure we did the protocols right.

I would recommend this to a student at Wabash who is in a STEM-related major and interested in research. This has sparked my interest in continuing this research as an independent study to see the outcome of how the drug affects the regeneration of the animal we used in the lab.
