My internship was under Gennesaret Free Clinics. A medical company that provides free health care through donations and sponsors. My goal working here was to get experience in the medical field, to see what it is like to interact with patients and understand how things flow in a medical environment. While working here, I did a variety of things and worked in a variety of environments. I worked in the admin building, working with patient files, sitting in meetings, and listening in on discussions about budgeting and events. I worked at events, setting them up, hosting, and providing information. I also worked in clinics, mainly clerking but also getting to shadow at times and watching the process of how the clinic is run. The key takeaways that I got from working at Gennesaret are getting an inside look at how a clinic is run and how doctors or nurses work with patients, what it looks like to run a nonprofit organization, and most importantly, how to interact with patients to make them feel comfortable and welcome. I am extremely content with my decision to work at Gennesaret. I met some great people who work here for a great reason. I now understand a lot more about the medical environment than I did before, and I am excited to continue to learn more. With my goals of majoring in psychology and going to medical school to become a psychiatrist, my internship at Gennesaret Free Clinics helped me get an idea of what the environment would be like in my future endeavors. I want to thank all the donors, supervisors, and professors who made it possible for me to experience this great opportunity. I am excited to see what other opportunities Wabash college supporters have to offer for me in the future!
