Over the last month, I’ve had the great opportunity to intern for the Wabash CIBE as an Innovation Consultant. In this role, we spent the month developing important skills that will help us as we move forward in our careers. We heard from many alumni who shared valuable advice and insights about finding our way in the business world. This experience is great for anyone aspiring to enter the business industry because it teaches so many useful skills and provides countless opportunities to connect with professionals in the field.
A big part of the internship was splitting into four teams and worked on creating startup companies for our pitch competition. Throughout the process, we spoke with many alumni who have successfully built startups of their own. Hearing from people who are actively working in the space has been incredibly helpful in guiding us along our journey.
We were also given the opportunity to spend a day in Chicago meeting with professionals in the finance and investment industry. It was a great experience to connect with alumni who work in fields that many of us aspire to enter. During the trip, we met with Josh Nicholson from Harrison Asset Management, which was a great chance to learn more about private equity and continue building relationships with alumni.
Another highlight of the internship was visiting Eli Lilly and meeting several alumni who work there. One of the alumni we heard from was trustee Kip Chase, who shared great advice on how to get our careers started. He also shared skills he uses to set him apart from others such as approachable leadership and determination
Overall, this internship has been an incredible opportunity for professional development and for building skills that will help set me apart in the workplace. The chance to learn from so many successful alumni has been invaluable, and I am very thankful for this opportunity. I am Excited to continue learning, growing, and applying these experiences moving forward. Thank you to everyone at Wabash CIBE and the alumni network who made this experience possible
