This summer became special for me thanks to my internship at the Stephenson Institute the Summer Seminar on Economic Research, as well as at the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER). For me, it was not only the first experience of working in such an international academic environment, but also an opportunity to better understand how economics connects with modern ideas and practices.

From the very first day, I was surrounded by students from more than ten different countries. We discussed economic concepts, shared our own views and learned from each other. These conversations helped me broaden my horizons and see how important diversity of ideas and cultural exchange are to find new solutions in the economy. One of my main discoveries was how important communication skills are. Participating in seminars, discussions and organizing events, I realized that the ability to convey the idea clearly and confidently is a key element of successful work in any field, especially in economics and finance. This is directly related to one of my Clifton Strengths – “Communicator”, which helped me find a common language with people of various interests and views.

Participation in the organization of events was especially valuable. This practice taught me to work in a team, take responsibility and show initiative. I realized that I was interested not only in studying economic theories, but also in implementing them through specific projects.

My supervisor once noted: You quickly adapt to a new environment and know how to combine theory with practice, which is extremely important for a researcher. These words confirmed to me that the chosen direction corresponds to my long-term goals.

I am very grateful to the donors and organizers of the program, as well as my mentors, who gave me the opportunity to gain this experience. Thanks to this internship, I was once again convinced that I want to devote myself to the study of economics and work in an international environment where creativity, openness and the desire to change with the world are valued.
