This summer I worked as the Allen Center Operations Assistant. I am super thankful for my supervisor Clark and the opportunity that he gave me to help out the Athletic Department here at Wabash. He made the experience enjoyable and fruitful. While day to day
responsibilities changed frequently, there were a few things that stand out to me as I reflect upon my summer. First, it was so great to see all the people coming in and out of the Allen Center, especially to use the workout equipment. Whether it was just a wave, or a conversation with the guests, it was always a pleasure to see both familiar and new faces. Second, many prospective students made their way around the Allen Center while on visits and I thoroughly enjoyed telling them why they should attend Wabash College. Both of these experiences and types of interactions relate to my long term career goals because I have an interest in becoming a sports psychologist. Being a resource and learning how to recognize when someone needed
help finding something was valuable experience in my opinion, and it was always nice to discuss sports performance with the athletes that would be using the facilities. The last part that was great about my internship experience was getting to know the others in my group. I feel I got closer to guys that I had not met prior to the internship, which is what Wabash is about.
Overall, being on campus for the summer was one of the things that I wanted, and I am glad to have fulfilled that wish while working as the Allen Center Operations Assistant!
