The energy and excitement was visible as over 400 alumni and guests returned to campus for the much-anticipated Big Bash Reunion Weekend. This annual event is a cherished tradition, bringing together generations of Wabash men to celebrate their shared experiences and connections. As members of the BIP Internship through CIBE, we assisted the Alumni Affairs staff with the Big Bash festivities throughout the weekend. This is an opportunity for us to showcase our networking abilities with alumni and meet new people on a special weekend for the college. Wabash is largely known for its involved alumni and the Big Bash Reunion is a way that we can help continue that strong reputation.

Students helped the alumni sign into the official alumni registration book, an important piece of history for the college. Campus tours provided by us rising sophomores gave alumni a chance to see familiar locations, discover new developments, and meet current students while a friendly golf match was being played off campus. We got the opportunity to meet and interact with countless alumni as we showed them around our beautiful campus in golf carts and answered any questions alumni might have.

Friday evening’s Big Bash Banquet was a highlight of the weekend, featuring a special presentation from the class of 1974 for their 50th Reunion Class, who proudly announced a significant class gift of $1.3 million. This generous donation underscores the strong connection that alumni maintain with Wabash College and their commitment to its future

On a more active note, options for a bike ride around Montgomery County or a run/walk through the scenic campus was offered Saturday morning. Members of the BIP were helping with the annual run/walk by directing alumni where to go and cheering contestants on.

One of the weekend’s most beloved traditions, the Alumni Chapel Sing, took place in Pioneer Chapel. The Class of 1974 won the contest, filling the chapel with cheer and tradition. As current students at Wabash who just performed in Chapel Sing not more than a year ago, it was very inspiring to see the alumni still cheering the song to their heart’s desire.

The Big Bash Reunion Weekend was a resounding success and gave us a chance to interact with all sorts of alumni, learn about the history of our college, and understand the significance behind it. The weekend was a true testament to the everlasting tradition and community of Wabash College.
