Over the summer I had a research internship with the SNL group. Even though I was a member
of the SNL group last year its year I enjoyed the Lab a lot more. During the summer I increased
my knowledge of scientific instruments and procedures. Dr. Novak was my advisor and get is
great at positive reinforcement and making sure I knew what tasks needed to be done
throughout the day. Doing the science presentations alone as well as having a solo project
really enhanced my growth this summer. The area I think I improved the most in is surprisingly
my knowledge of Excel.
My favorite thing about this summer was the dinners that we had as a
lab group. Everyone had a day in the week a person from my group. This saved money overall
as well as getting a variety of food every day. We also had a Ping Pong tournament going on.
This created an environment for all the lab to bond outside of class. I also went on my first-ever
hiking trip just as a nice little change of scenery. It was very relaxing, and I cannot be more
fortunate for this great opportunity.
