The Panama Pacific exposition was a world’s fair, held in San Francisco, California in 1915. It was planned as a celebration of the arts and sciences, a gathering of creators from all over the country to celebrate the completion of the Panama Canal, and to show the world that San Francisco had recovered from the disastrous earthquake in 1906. An invite to the art show at this exposition was an honor for any artist, and any individual who truly stood out in their field was invited, as they only invited those who truly stood out in their fields. J. Ottis Adams was one of a select group. “A Bit of the Whitewater” was chosen to be shown. This was one of Adam’s greatest honors.
