Born on October 17, 1859 in Modena, Italy, Zampighi was an Italian Social Realist artist. At the age of thirteen, he decided to pursue his passion for art and attended the Academy of Design in Florence, Italy. During his time at the Academy, he received six first class medals in the examinations meant to test his talents. Shortly after leaving the Academy, he received a scholarship to continue his studies in Rome, Italy where he was also successful. So successful that he was invited to become an Honorable Member of the Modena Academy. He then chose to settle in Florence in 1884, when he focused on genre-painting. In 1944, after developing great works for more than 70 years, he passed away at the age of 85 in Maranello, Italy.
