I had the opportunity to really dive into all those details that go with marketing, and it is significantly more complex than I had thought before. I have all this knowledge thanks to my BIP summer internship with the CIBE. After reading the Disciplined Entrepreneurship Workbook, it was evident how much detail goes into marketing. Doing the correct research and understanding the audience for your project is vital in entrepreneurship and a business. This was emphasized when James Kennedy ’16 came in to demonstrate the power of branding and its ties to marketing. To be able to brand you must be aware of the person you are selling to. It ties in research and branding to help us find a beachhead market for companies. Without that most companies become lost and confused along the way. With our creation of a business, we took what we learned and applied it. Finding our perfect buyer through multiple levels of research was essential to our creation and took some of the most work. This in all helps us gather the bigger picture of what we were trying to achieve with the BIP internship. That is being a multiple edged knife in the business world and understanding multiple parts. It is vital to know marketing and the strategies, but useless if you cannot apply that to the branding or functionality of a company. In all The BIP prepared us to be introduced to multiple different sides of business including sales, networking, marketing etc. Being able to have the core of what we need to do already sets us apart from so many others and prepares us even better for the future. And these all can be exemplified in the practices and assignments we did such as our marketing focus.
