Associate Professor of German Greg Redding’s article on Indiana’s Shades State Park has earned the 2017 Jacob P. Dunn Award from the Indiana Historical Society.
“The Shades of Death: Joseph W. Frisz and Shades State Park” was published in Traces of Indiana and Midwestern History, the society’s quarterly publication.
The Jacob P. Dunn Jr. Award is earned by the writer whose article does the best job of serving the magazine’s mission, which involves “presenting thoughtful, research-based articles on Indiana history in an attractive format to a broad audience of readers.”
Professor Redding knows the park well: He trains there weekly for his long-distance endurance races.
