My experience for my freshman year summer was with REVelry and ShipSigma. With these groups, I acquired real-world sales skills and developed a know how to carry myself in the professional world. Some of my highlights included: having 3 active deals, achieving
15k in revenue, and reaching out to over 1,000 C-suite individuals. My time this summer was very full and required a lot of time management on my part to dedicate enough time to my athletics and external factors and perform well in the internship. It has made me reflect on my desire to go into the corporate world as a SDR or BDR. However, I believe I really appreciate and enjoy sales and believe that if I was paired with a company, I was passionate about I would be more inclined to work.
Another takeaway from the internship was the capabilities of AI and how to make that applicable to the classroom and my eventual work. AI is expediting a lot of processes in the professional space, and I want to incorporate that into my work here at Wabash (ethically of course). I believe it is crucial that students are taught how AI can be utilized and benefitted from so that they may be game changers in their profession.
My last takeaway is focused on the alumni network and being able to tap into our alma mater. Over the course of three months, I met with 10+ alumni and had two 1-on-1 coffee meetings with CEOs. Here, I learned priceless information about the innerworkings of companies while also learning about the college and their experiences. I believe that these connections will greatly benefit my future and career path.
Finally, it was great to work alongside other early BDRs and SDRs in a collaborative and combined space. The opportunity to do so enabled me as a freshman to learn from upperclassman and other professionals in a relaxed setting. A huge thank you to alumni Josh Kline and his partner, Wes Craig, for being great mentors and leaders for our cohort. It was a blessing to be a part of the first official REVelry cohort.
