Inspired by the voluntary exile of writer James Joyce and her own emigration to the United States, Professor Agata Szczeszak-Brewer charted a challenging new course for the humanities in the 21st century as she delivered the 35th annual LaFollette Lecture last fall.

Those ideas have now found traction with a much larger audience, as a modified version of the professor’s talk was published in the January 2015 issue of Inside Higher Ed. The web site boasts more than 103,000 subscribers and 1.3 million monthly users.
