This week we are conducting our 2009-10 student technology survey. This annual survey is one of our best tools for measuring how well we are meeting our student’s technology needs and expectations. The survey is also extremely valuable in helping us prioritize future technology initiatives, and is especially important this year as we reshape technology on campus in response to changing budgets.
If you are a current Wabash student and haven’t yet taken the technology survey, please take five minutes to take the survey now — the deadline is 5pm Monday, January 25.
I always look forward to seeing the survey results. We can predict some results — more Internet bandwidth always rates high on most student’s wish lists, and I’m sure we’ll get some constructive comments about the recent changes to the library computer lab. But I know we will also uncover some unknown issues, and get some great suggestions from students for improving all aspects of technology at Wabash.
Our goal this year is to get completed surveys from 60% of our students, which means we need about 500 responses. This is our seventh annual student survey and we always get a good response rate, so I’m confident that we’ll reach our goal. I’m sure the prize helps (this year, one student will be selected by random drawing and win his choice of a Nintendo Wii or iPod Touch), but I think it’s more than that. We see time and again that Wabash students care deeply about Wabash, and most jump at the chance to let us know what they think.
For our part, we’ll take seriously all survey responses and comments we get back, and look throughout the campus and within our organization for ways we can improve to better meet the technology needs of our students.
For those of you interested in the results, we’ll present some initial findings at a Tech Talk on Tuesday, January 26 at noon in Baxter 114, and post additional information to our web site by the end of January.
