I thought the idea was a great one…the automobile and the liberal arts. \u00a0Perfect. \u00a0Faculty interest, alumni interest…PERFECT!<\/p>\n

At points in the process? \u00a0An Asian area fire drill to be sure? \u00a0It was warm jello for a long time. \u00a0The final product? \u00a0Priceless and a great time for all who participated in any way.<\/p>\n

We had classics, to be sure. \u00a0Below is a 1955 Chevy Bel Air convertible provided by General Motors. \u00a0This car looks new inside and out. \u00a0Look at the smiles on the faces of Brad Johnson ’71 (one of the event organizers) and the student. \u00a0A timeless car. \u00a0If you had one of these when I was in high school…you were DaMan!<\/p>\n

But we had vehicles that were used, and used hard every day. \u00a0Check out Chris Bryan’s Willys. \u00a0He uses it off road, as you can tell. \u00a0The Willys was designed in WWII to last about 10 days – that was their typical lifespan. \u00a0This one is only 65 YEARS old.<\/p>\n

It was a great day topped of by a keynote from good friend, and Vice President and Treasurer of General Motors, Jim Davlin ’85. \u00a0Jim told the group of the forward looking product development going on at GM. \u00a0He also cited the many major accomplishments of liberal arts graduates in the American automotive industry.<\/p>\n

It was a great day!!!<\/p>\n
