Professor Wally Novak<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I ran into Wally Novak early last Thursday morning. \u00a0He was on his way to a 8:00 AM class on the first day of the new school year.<\/p>\n

I threw out the usual banter about an 8:00 AM class. \u00a0He said “yes” in his usual good-natured way. \u00a0I asked what the course was. \u00a0He responded “Advanced Bio-Chemistry.”<\/p>\n

I stopped in my tracks. \u00a0Advanced Bio-Chemistry. \u00a0Wally’s excited and the Grunge is just trying to wrap his arms around exactly how tough that would be…let alone at 8:00 AM on a student’s body clock. \u00a0I wished Wally good luck and headed for the inbox.<\/p>\n

Caught Wally at lunch – same day. \u00a0“How was class?” I asked. \u00a0He said with a broad smile: “Great! \u00a0This is going to be a great year – these guys are all super to work with.” \u00a0I said: “How many students?” “7”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seven students. \u00a08:00 AM. \u00a0CHEM 462. \u00a0Advanced Bio-Chemistry. A recipe for …GREATNESS!<\/p>\n

You see, Wally is a teacher \/ mentor \/ role model \/ cheerleader rolled into one. \u00a0He’ll push the guys to give it their best shot and he’ll make every step of the journey – the highs and the lows – with them. \u00a0Because he cares. \u00a0And they will give it their best because, at the end foot he day, they do not want to disappoint Wally.<\/p>\n

Wally Novak helps make Wabash “this good place”. \u00a0Even at 8:00 AM!<\/p>\n
