All of these are best accomplished in the twilight of day\u2026solo\u2026i.e., by yourself.<\/p>\n

  1. Walk to the Chapel.\u00a0 Walk up to the balcony and think back to Freshman Saturday.\u00a0 Find your spot.\u00a0 Sit there for a few moments.\u00a0 You are, my friend, a different man today.\u00a0 Relish it.\u00a0 Share your experience.\u00a0 Most of all put it to good use.<\/li>\n
  2. Walk to the senior bench.\u00a0 Sit there\u2026after all you are a senior.\u00a0 (Make sure the latest paint job is dry, of course.)\u00a0 Look at Center Hall as your arm rests on one end or the other.\u00a0 Countless Wabash men have shared the same thoughts as you have right now.\u00a0 Let them flood your memory banks.\u00a0 It\u2019s OK.\u00a0 Next time, the thoughts will be familiar\u2026but different.<\/li>\n
  3. Take your time walking down Monon Bell way.\u00a0 Then head into the Allen Center.\u00a0 Once in the front door, turn around and take a good long look at the Monon Bell.\u00a0 It\u2019s commonplace for you to know it\u2019s there\u2026but that\u2019s not the same experience other Wabash men have had.\u00a0 That bell has a distinctive ring because it isn\u2019t about just football, it\u2019s about life.\u00a0 \u201cWabash Always Fights\u201d means you always give your best.\u00a0 As players, as fans, as doers, and as leaders.<\/li>\n
  4. Walk into Chadwick Court\u2026and listen\u2026.carefully listen.\u00a0 You\u2019ll hear the basketballs bouncing, the sounds of crazy music, but most of all you\u2019ll hear Wabash alive.\u00a0 The same echoes you\u2019ll hear if you find enough time to walk across the football field, the baseball field, and the soccer\/lacrosse field.<\/li>\n
  5. \"chapel-1820\"<\/a>Finally, walk on over the Detchon Center.\u00a0 Walk in the mall side door\u2026you just entered Detchon Center\u2026and walk out the other side\u2026you just walked out of Yandes Library.\u00a0 That one-minute walk eclipsed 52 years of Wabash history.\u00a0 Soak that up.<\/li>\n
  6. Take the sloping walk through the Arboretum from Detchon\/Yandes to the corner of Wabash and Grant.\u00a0 Stop on the steps\u2026given by a Wabash Class of long, long ago.\u00a0 To them, that corner was special.\u00a0 You walked in a boy four years ago \u2013 you\u2019re walking out a Wabash man.\u00a0 They did the same thing over 100 years ago.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    As you return to your living unit and the company of your friends, celebrate those long papers, difficult questions, oral comps, and every other experience.\u00a0 Every little bit, good and bad, made you who you are today.<\/p>\n

    Now, do what I didn\u2019t do.\u00a0 Take a moment the next day or before you pack up to say a sincere thank you to those who changed your life here.\u00a0 You\u2019ll live forever\u2026but they may not.\u00a0 Let them know you care and you\u2019re thankful.\u00a0 Every time you\u2019ll cut down the nets of another life challenge won, make sure they get a piece of that net.\u00a0 They weren\u2019t in it for money or for fame, they did it for you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
