“Booger” was there. \u00a0“Chainsaw” was there. \u00a0So were “Too Kool” and “Scowler”…and “G-man” and “Mo” and “Hoss”…and others. \u00a0The Bolar reunion was a hit.<\/p>\n

Bolar = our flying call sign. \u00a0Bowler is the hat of choice. \u00a0It’s tradition. \u00a0The 492 Tactical Fighter Squadron, nickname the “Madhatters”, wears a “lid” from the hosting country. \u00a0England = bowlers.<\/p>\n

Rule: \u00a0better have your bowler on at a formal squadron party or your tie gets cut off. \u00a0No problem this time – as you can see from the lineup.<\/p>\n

Note: just like Wabash guys, Bolars marry well above themselves.<\/p>\n

Once again I was reminded of the importance of reunions. \u00a0All of the pre-reunion worries melt away in 13 nano-seconds. \u00a0You’re back together again and that’s all the counts. \u00a0Best IP? \u00a0Worst pilot? \u00a0FWIC WSO? \u00a0Top Gun? \u00a0Rank?None of that matters at all.<\/p>\n

What matters are the friendships developed \u00a0in a land 3,000 miles away and over 20 years ago. \u00a0Those memories all come flooding back.<\/p>\n

So, Wabash friends. \u00a0When it’s Big Bash time, think about coming back for the simple reasons of a place that changed you and the people who made that same trip and have been friends for life. \u00a0That’s all you need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
