Back from vaca…but want to share about the last day of vacation.<\/p>\n

Statue of Liberty<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Early in the afternoon we braved the crowds of people at the Statue of Liberty. \u00a0High temp + high humidity + a lot of humanity = YMCA locker room aroma!<\/p>\n

My son said something to the effect of “Lady Liberty” and “isn’t that why you served?” \u00a0I did the “yep” thing and moved on…but the thoughts lingered…<\/p>\n

No matter how you slice it, Freedom isn’t free and it certainly isn’t timeless.<\/p>\n

After the Statue, we visited the 9\/11 Memorial. \u00a0The bottom line is really simple to a poor, dumb fighter pilot – check “six” and don’t assume you’re clear. \u00a0Ever. \u00a0Vigilance must be external.<\/p>\n

What the heck does that have to do with Wabash?<\/p>\n

There’s no sitting still in higher education. \u00a0None. \u00a0If you’re not growing, you’re dying. \u00a0We can’t settle for last year’s good, last year’s student profile, last year’s lesson plans, last year’s anything. \u00a0The competition won’t. \u00a0They’ll want to be better. \u00a0We need to be better as well…plus a little better…<\/p>\n
