{"id":1395,"date":"2012-11-20T07:01:54","date_gmt":"2012-11-20T07:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.wabash.edu\/thegrunge\/?p=1395"},"modified":"2012-11-20T07:01:54","modified_gmt":"2012-11-20T07:01:54","slug":"we-lost-atwood-smith-34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/thegrunge\/2012\/11\/20\/we-lost-atwood-smith-34\/","title":{"rendered":"We Lost Atwood Smith &#8217;34"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We heard from Brian Smith &#8217;68 today &#8211; his father passed away recently at the age of 98.<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2009, Atwood&#8217;s presence for the 2009 Big Bash was monumental. \u00a0The Class of 1959, celebrating their 50th reunion, had a superb turnout with 50% of their class, 71 members, attending the reunion.<\/p>\n<p>Just as Lee Corso is known to say, \u00a0Atwood Smith &#8217;34, attending his 75th reunion that day, said &#8220;Not so fast, my friend!&#8221; \u00a0You see, the class of 1934, when Atwood signed the reunion book, tied the Class of 1959 with 50% participation. \u00a0That&#8217;s right, at that point Atwood was one of the two surviving members of the class.<\/p>\n<p>We handed him the Attendance Trophy right at the Registration table. \u00a0No need to delay!<\/p>\n<p>Atwood Smith &#8211; Some Little Giant!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We heard from Brian Smith &#8217;68 today &#8211; his father passed away recently at the age of 98.
