Over the course of the program, we strengthened our technical skills in tools such as Excel, Canva, and other business software, while also learning how to apply those tools in real-world
scenarios. Just as importantly, the program provided countless opportunities to build meaningful relationships with peers, faculty, alumni, and industry professionals. These
connections not only broadened my network but also gave me valuable perspectives on the many paths a business career can take.

One of my biggest takeaways was realizing that success takes many different forms. Throughout
the summer, we met with a variety of entrepreneurs whose stories demonstrated that perseverance is often the deciding factor between success and failure. Every person we spoke with had faced significant obstacles—some even experienced major setbacks that could have ended their ventures—but their ability to adapt, pivot, and keep moving forward ultimately
defined their success. That mindset of resilience is something I will carry with me well beyond this program.

A particular highlight for me was working through consulting case studies with Ron Dostal. These exercises underscored the importance of asking the right questions before rushing to propose solutions. We practiced using decision-making frameworks such as the SWOT model— strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats—which helped us structure our thinking and
ensure that our recommendations were grounded in a complete understanding of the problem.

Another memorable moment was hearing from Jim Snyder, who shared his journey in private equity. His insights emphasized the importance of truly understanding your audience—whether you’re pitching yourself, an idea, or a product—and tailoring your message to the decision maker’s priorities. This advice resonated with me as a lesson that extends far beyond the business world into almost any professional interaction.

Overall, the Business Immersion Program sharpened my critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, while giving me a deeper appreciation for the complexity of the business landscape. I’m grateful to the speakers, tour guides, and faculty who made this experience possible. The lessons I learned this summer will not only shape my approach to future opportunities but also serve as a foundation for my career.

This summer, my classmates and I had the privilege of completing the 2025 Business Immersion Program (BIP) through the Center for Innovation, Business, and Entrepreneurship (CIBE).
