Mr. Pyle founded Avanti after selling his previous company, Connecta Corp, which specialized in small precision parts since 1987. Avanti leases the building that Connecta Corp operates in and earns commissions from selling parts Mr. Pyle has in his inventory from his tenure at Connecta.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My time at Avanti allowed me to learn and grow in many areas. I started by getting familiar with the inventory tracking software used by both Connecta Corp and Avanti. After that, I was given my biggest project, auditing a year\u2019s worth of sales summaries and inventory records. During this process, I discovered discrepancies that showed Avanti wasn\u2019t receiving the proper compensation. I created new sales reports to address these issues, and after communicating with Connecta Corp, we identified errors in their reporting system, ensuring Mr. Pyle received the compensation he deserved.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/summerinternships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/08\/image-12.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"495\" height=\"664\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/summerinternships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/08\/image-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4543\" style=\"width:289px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/summerinternships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/08\/image-12.png 495w, https:\/\/blog.wabash.edu\/summerinternships\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2024\/08\/image-12-224x300.png 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>I also worked on applying for a LISC Grant, which could provide up to $20,000 for renovations at Avanti. To fill out this grant, it required gathering financial documents, contractor estimates, and securing approval from the homeowners&#8217; association. I grew a lot in my communication skills as well as how to manage very important and detailed projects.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside these main tasks, I also handled smaller jobs like reviewing insurance policies, coordinating maintenance, and working with contractors on potential renovations. These responsibilities often took me around Indianapolis with Mr. Pyle, where I got to know him much better through lunches where I would get to listen about his experiences as well as share with one another our experience at Wabash and how amazing of an opportunity it was. I also received valuable lessons on how to approach my career as well as life.
