Interning with the Warren County Health Department this summer was an incredible experience! I gained a deep understanding of how health departments operate and had hands-on opportunities
like conducting septic and food inspections. The warm welcome from everyone in the department made it an amazing place to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


I tackled two major projects during my internship. First, I prepared emergency preparedness learning materials for the Warren County 4-H Fair. I designed an informative trifold that detailed the 123s of emergency preparedness. It covered the risks of natural disasters that had impacted the county and surrounding areas in the past four years, offered step-by-step instructions on creating a family emergency plan, and included a visual guide on how to assemble your own Go Bag. At the fair, I had the exciting role of educating people on the importance of being prepared for emergencies and raffling off Go Bags filled with essential survival items. We even gave out 500 mini go bags at the fair and 40 emergency weather radios. Additionally, I created five engaging videos promoting the Go Bags and a four-part educational series on how to build your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My second project was equally thrilling\u2014I helped organize an euchre tournament at a local coffee shop. The goal is that the event draws in a bunch of participants and is done well so that the community can host more events like the one I helped plan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also participated in numerous meetings focused on addressing community issues. These meetings addressed ensuring we have resources to meet the county’s needs, fostering social cohesion, attending networking events, and enhancing safety practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This internship is part of my journey to become a nurse after Wabash College eventually,
and I would like to thank Warren County Health Department for the internship, as well as Dr.Sharma, Jill Rodgers, and Eric Wetzel for making this internship possible. <\/p>\n\n\n
