This past weekend, June 2nd and 3rd, Wabash College held its annual Big Bash celebration that brought back alumni from a variety of different graduating classes. The class of 1973 was also able to celebrate their 50-year reunion, while also being named the Alumni Chapel Sing champions. There were a number of things that took place throughout the weekend. On Friday,
these events included the Wally Wabash Golf Outing, campus tours, the Welcome Back Luncheon, Wally in the Arena Symposium on College Sports and the Liberal Arts, events at Wally\u2019s Pub, and the Big Bash Banquet. The events hosted on Saturday included the Alumni Bike Ride, Alumni Fun Run\/Walk, campus tours, Alumni Chapel Sing, a picnic lunch, Academic Department Receptions, Colloquiums, class dinners, and the weekend was capped off with events at Wally\u2019s Pub. <\/p>\n\n\n

Big Bash is a great networking opportunity for Wabash alumni and current students. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

This was a great networking opportunity for students across campus as
well. Current students were able to gather career advice as well as hear stories from alumni of the college from decades ago. It showed current students, including myself, that education doesn\u2019t end at graduation and that the memories made at Wabash College last a lifetime. Big
Bash allowed students and alumni of various years and backgrounds to come together as a campus and be one Wabash College. This event highlighted the importance of a strong community and a tradition of excellence, which is what Wabash College thrives on. As a current student, many of these conversations left me with knowledge, advice, and guidance in the professional world with numerous successful alumni in their respective fields. I was very appreciative at the conclusion of this event that I was able to gain an abundant amount of knowledge about different fields and job positions in the professional world. <\/p>\n\n\n

Big Bash allows Wabash alumni to take part in some long-standing traditions, like Chapel Sing. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

One phrase that was said by multiple alumni to my fellow students and me about reaching out to people in your network is, \u201cIf you ask for a job, you\u2019ll get advice. If you ask for advice, you might just make yourself another connection.\u201d These connections have the potential to last a lifetime and with a community like Wabash College, alumni are willing to give students and other alumni valuable advice they wish they had learned before they hit the ground running in their professional careers. The power of networking has no limits and the conversations that were held at the Big Bash alumni weekend heavily emphasized this to students and alumni across numerous different majors and professional fields.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
